A Poem for Van Gogh’s Starry Night

There is no one here

except blue-violet waves

orchestrating disaster.

Lanterns flicker

and give out against

this quiet flood.

A church stands tall

but a black fire even taller.

There is no one here,

except for the stars

and the song of catastrophe.
