Book Review: Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Rating: 5/5 stars

Welcome to the review of one of my newest favorite books of all time.

So when I heard about this book and read the synopsis, I about lost it. It was like a dream come true for me. A Labyrinth retelling with Phantom of the Opera + Beauty and the Beast inspiration. I drooled over the cover, read every ARC review, and counted down the weeks and days until I finally got it.

And this book did not disappoint.

If you like sexy fantasy, you need to pick this book up ASAP. If you like detailed writing, complex characters, and creepy goblins then sprint to your nearest bookstore or library right now. Because you’ll love this story, and the eery yet gorgeous world that Jae-Jones has created.

Split into two parts, this story follows talented but under-appreciated  Liesel as she ventures to the Underground to save her sister from the dark but disturbingly handsome Goblin King. This is a romance book, but it is so much more than that. For me, this book was also a coming of age story about a girl who learns to love and accept both her talent and the selfish, dark parts of herself.

Filled with poetic moments that will both make your heart sing and give you goosebumps, Wintersong takes place as my #1 read of 2017.
